Dear guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Welcome to Klaksvík and welcome to Atlantic Fair 2026.

I have attended this event several times as a guest, promoting products and representing some of our local exhibitors.

This time is different. And it is a great honor to open this year's Atlantic Fair 2026 as Prime Minister.

In fact, this is one of my first official duties as a Prime Minister. I must admit, I did not expect that one of my first tasks would be standing in my home city Klaksvík speaking English.

But it is a great pleasure for me to open this year’s Atlantic Fair.

Klaksvík has always been a city that looks to the sea and looks for new opportunities.

The fishing industry is a big part of our history, but also a big part of our future.

Growing up here, you learn early that nothing comes by itself.

Our fishing industry, our ships, our factories, and our businesses were built by hardworking people who were willing to take chances, work long days, and think ahead.

That spirit is still strong in the Faroe Islands today.

For a small country, we have come far.

Faroese companies and people are known around the world for quality, innovation, and experience in fisheries and aquaculture.

We should be proud of that, and we should continue to support the industries that create jobs, growth, and opportunities across our islands.

Atlantic Fair is an important meeting place for exactly this.

It brings together people with ideas, experience, and ambition.

Dear guests,

The Faroe Islands are a strong maritime nation, and I believe our best days are still ahead of us.

As a new government, we want to create stable and good conditions for Faroese businesses to grow.

In the fishing industry, stability is very important.

Companies need long-term and reliable conditions so they can continue to invest and develop.

We want a fisheries policy that both protects our resources and gives the industry the stability needed to grow.

We must also support new technology, better use of raw materials, and more value creation here in the Faroe Islands.

And we should continue strengthening the shipping and service industries so the Faroe Islands can become an even stronger maritime hub in the North Atlantic.

To all exhibitors, visitors, and partners - thank you for coming to Klaksvík. I hope the next few days bring strong partnerships and many new opportunities.

With these words, I declare Atlantic Fair 2026 officially open.

Thank you very much.
